More reasons to love Helichrysum

Helichrysum Oil

We all love Helichrysum for variety of reasons, but I’ve found that one of the benefits is that it provides a safe and natural way to improve my skin.  It has rejuvenating properties that can help to promote a healthy-looking complexion. Check out some of these uses for this oil:

Helichrysum is known as the Immortal or Everlasting Flower. It is used extensively in anti-aging products, and it can help target aging spots. Use Helichrysum essential oil in your anti-aging skincare routine. Simply apply the oil to your face daily to target fine lines and wrinkles.   We can also use it to help promote healthy skin cell regeneration and a glowing, youthful complexion. We can apply the oil directly to the face or add it to our favorite facial cleanser to help our skin look more youthful.

Helichrysum oil is well-known for its ability to help in anti-aging efforts.  Want to combat acne or promote a glowing complexion?  Helichrysum can be used to improve the appearance of the skin. Remember:  When you apply any essential oil directly to your skin, consider the strength and potency of the oil, as well as your personal skin sensitivity.

Another way to use this oil for skin is on those days when you’ve spent a little too much time in the sun. If I have laid out by the pool for a little too long, or my afternoon hike was sunnier than I expected, I can use Helichrysum to calm hot, irritated skin.  I like to keep a bottle of Helichrysum on hand when traveling to sunny or warm climates, in case I get too much sun exposure.

Doing Good Around The World

One of the things I love about doTERRA is the kind of people it attracts. I have met some of the most amazing people through our doTERRA business. And one of the things that success with doTERRA allows us is to devote time and energy to helping other people.

refugeesThis past month, hundreds of doTERRA Wellness Advocates worked together to donate over 2,200 bottles of essential oils as well as oil diffusers for the refuges in Lesbos, Greece.

Then a group of 15 of our leaders from Europe traveled to Lesvos as part of a doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation volunteering excursion with Because We Carry, an NGO already making a huge difference at Kara Tepe Refugee Camp on Lesvos for the past year.

Their mission was to help in any way they were needed at the camp and to distribute the doTERRA therapeutic grade essential oils which were donated by Wellness Advocates from around the world.

Essential oils to soothe stiff muscles and joints

Essential Oils for the Beach – Part 2

There’s so much to do on the island, from hiking to surfing to snorkeling, and more.  The fresh island air is energizing and sometimes by the time evening arrives, I find that I’ve overdone it a bit.  I start feeling stiff and sore.  So, I make sure to take Deep Blue soothing blend with me.

The oils in this soothing blend are combined so that the properties of their chemical constituents work synergistically. Together they ease stiff joints and sore muscles you might experience after physical activities like hiking, body boarding, or horseback riding. The oils provide a deep, penetrating relief.

How to use:  For small areas like fingers, massage a drop or two directly into area of concern. For larger areas, add a few drops of oil to a small amount of carrier oil or lotion and massage into joints and muscles.

If you’d like to learn more about this blend or how to get it, send me a note or give us a call.  We’d be happy to help.

Repel mosquitoes with essential oils

Essential Oils for the Beach – Part 1

The number one way I use essential oils at the beach?   Repelling mosquitoes.   Forget Deet and Deep Woods Off.  They do absolutely nothing for me.

I am one of those people who mosquitoes will search out in a crowd.  My companions can be oblivious to the fact mosquitoes even exist, yet I’ll be getting bitten repeatedly.   And the bites I receive are not the little, slightly itchy ones.  Mine swell up to the size of a nickle – sometimes even a quarter – and they burn, sting and itch for a week.

One evening at Ke’e Beach, we set out to watch the sunset.  I wore long pants and long sleeves on the beach in an attempt to thwart the efforts of these flying blood suckers.  But unfortunately I failed to wear rain boots.  I’m guessing they are the only thing that would have prevented the 15 bites I received on my feet and ankles in a matter of only 60 seconds.  I love Ke’e, but vowed to not return until I found a way to keep the mosquitoes away.

Happily, I found it. There is a repellent blend of essential oils that allows me to go out and enjoy the evening without continually slapping and my arms and legs.  Last time I was in Hawaii, I enjoyed 12 days on the beach and in the jungle (including watching several sunsets at Ke’e) and I believe I received only three bites the entire time.  For me, that is amazing. Contact me if you’d like to know more about this fabulous oil blend!

Two ways I use it:  1) Put several drops of the blend in a bottle of a carrier oil.  Mix well and then apply the oil to my arms and legs as I leave the condo.  2) Put several drops in a spray bottle of water.  Shake, and then spray the water on my arms and legs, then smooth the mixture along my skin.  I think the first method is most effective, but sometimes the spray bottle is easier.
